It has been a while since I have actually share some thoughts on this site. So here goes, More and More these days people are using the internet to abuse emails and phony web sites to get our money. They claim to be our banks, credit card accounts, insurance companies, email lotteries, utility companies, contracted Microsoft people to remove viruses, and IRS. How many people fall for these scammers, to many unfortunately.
   Your own diligence and awareness can keep you safe. Using common sense when opening emails, or not opening would be a better choice of words if you do not know who it is from. If they claim to be one of your accounts, delete it or forward it to that agency's fraud dept, and contact your merchant, bank or agency at their website or by phone. You initializing the contact is giving you the control not someone else. Most online financial companies have their own spoof dept that tracks these emails to protect you and themselves.
  I am not claiming to know all about scams, just that I do know how it feels and hope something that I share on this blog will prevent honest people that work hard to get and save their money from being a victim.

These people just keep trying so I keep exposing them. FRAUD emails.

Steps one needs to take to protect themselves.

   No one is 100% safe from identity thief. If you believe that you may be a victim there are steps you should take right away, being pro active is the best course of action. It can be a bit over whelming to start the process but the pro active steps give you peace of mind, and can guard you against further financial problems. 
I have been through the steps and found a few sites that guide you through them, the following links are to government sites showing the course you should take.

   Remember never open emails that you do not know the sender.

   Never click on links to banks, or credit card accounts sent in emails about updating your account, Always go to the institution and log in from there log in page.

   Never give out information on the phone, how do you know that they are who they say they are?

   If in question get their name and number and check them out, the name of business, and ratings or reviews on the business.

   You should always be the one in control over the information you share. 

   If anyone contacts you in reference about the windows operating system you use on the home computer saying that they are contracted by Microsoft  to remove viruses they are frauds. Microsoft does not operate that way. They are convincing you so they can get personal information off your hard drive, DO not give them access to your computer.

   As a computer CompTIA A+ certified tech: word of advise to people downloading free software off the internet make sure you know what you are clicking when saying yes, yes, yes click ok.          Many tool bars and players are good but what they can bring in from some questionable sites is pure trouble.

   Take in to consideration these tips are happy surfing, a saying that someone shared with me makes sense. " You can not control the waves but you can learn how to ride them".

Just another form of trying to get personal information from unsuspecting people, the old scare tactic. When ever you see an email like this do not click on the link you are giving away your security.

New scheme on the market sent in the name of Walmart, it has what looks like a real Walmart Logo but is a fake to get information from you. This was sent to me with my full name on the heading of the email don't be trick'd. 

Sir/Madam,

Your order a__ number here______delivery has failed because the address was not specified correctly. You are advised to fill ___this form_is a link____  and send it back to us. 

If your reply is not received within one week, you will be paid your money back but 17% will be deducted since you order was booked for Christmas holidays. 

Remember you control your own safety when it comes to emails if in doubt do without, delete it.
