    As some of you know I dislike crooks, when good people work hard to save money and schemers come along and steal it with their lies it upsets me. I would like to warn readers about a scam going on concerning lottery winnings and your email being chosen by Google. It's a lie Google would never allow that to take place. These people are just trying to get your personal information, please do not fall for these types of phishing emails.

   Another type of scam is the one about windows contracted company calling to clean your computer of viruses. They do this by sounding legit using command prompt terms to make you feel dumb, getting you to install a program that gives them control over your computer. Once this is done they side track you by showing you a bunch of computer files stored on your hard drive. While they search for stored passwords and personal information on bank accounts and other financial companies you have accounts with. Do not allow them any access hang up, yes it can be a pain because they keep calling back . They actually told me unless I paid them 200 dollars they would keep calling me back, I said good I have nothing better to do than waste your time. I would not recommend others do this but I like messing with these liars .

  Here is another email scam it seems once they have your email they just try any thing to get your information like they pass your email around like a little black book.

 To my delight the COE conference was a great learning experience, in the cooperation of many people and organizations. Team work is definitely a skill for success in any operations. Worked with hotel IT A/V team and staff members to resolve technical problems . Took lead over projector issue and the show went on as Donte and I worked to get the speakers up and running.

The reason for the competitions, prepare individual students to be educated and skilled in their area of study and to prepare them for leadership roles in the world of work. I just can't say enough about this organization and the purpose it serves in today's technology working environment. I realize how much can be gained with this type of positive motivation in early schooling. Examples of leadership roles, personal development in areas of teamwork, learning how to stay focused on short term and long term goals to accomplish an end result. SkillsUSA  is a people development and challenging organization. The members are champions educated and skilled to work as stated by Mike Rowe (But they get it as well) thanks to Mr. Mike Rowe SkillsUSA will be recognized  on his new show opening, Some Body Has Got To Do It.

How many people do you know that has made a decision in their life that turned them in the wrong direction in life? Unfortunately I have known a lot including myself. I find that people that have to much idle time on their hands never really get much accomplished in personal growth, professional grit, and leadership skills. Now, not all people fit into this category, but more in this group than there are in the professional group. So with that being written I honestly feel that applying oneself into this organization gives them a jump above others looking for leadership roles in the world of work. It is a partnership between the student, instructors, and industries to prepare individuals as leaders in the world of work. It is a organization for students ran by students at chapter levels, they learn leadership, team working, community service, and how to run an organization in the Parliamentary Procedure fashion.
     Being a part of  SkillsUSA.org and SkillsUSA Fl. has been a very challenging and growth experience for me. The joy of being a winner in a competition  is just fantastic not only do you get the recognition in that field but make great contacts in the world of work. So here goes, More and More these days people are using the internet to abuse emails and phony web sites to get our money. They claim to be our banks, credit card accounts, insurance companies, email lotteries, utility companies, contracted Microsoft people to remove viruses, and IRS. How many people fall for these scammers, to many unfortunately.
   Your own diligence and awareness can keep you safe. Using common sense when opening emails, or not opening would be a better choice of words if you do not know who it is from. If they claim to be one of your accounts, delete it or forward it to that agency's fraud dept, and contact your merchant, bank or agency at their website or by phone. You initializing the contact is giving you the control not someone else. Most online financial companies have their own spoof dept that tracks these emails to protect you and themselves.
  I am not claiming to know all about scams, just that I do know how it feels and hope something that I share on this blog will prevent honest people that work hard to get and save their money from being a victim.

Steps one needs to take to protect themselves.

   No one is 100% safe from identity thief. If you believe that you may be a victim there are steps you should take right away, being pro active is the best course of action. It can be a bit over whelming to start the process but the pro active steps give you peace of mind, and can guard you against further financial problems. 
I have been through the steps and found a few sites that guide you through them, the following links are to government sites showing the course you should take.

   Remember never open emails that you do not know the sender.

   Never click on links to banks, or credit card accounts sent in emails about updating your account, Always go to the institution and log in from there log in page.

   Never give out information on the phone, how do you know that they are who they say they are?

   If in question get their name and number and check them out, the name of business, and ratings or reviews on the business.

   You should always be the one in control over the information you share. 

   If anyone contacts you in reference about the windows operating system you use on the home computer saying that they are contracted by Microsoft  to remove viruses they are frauds. Microsoft does not operate that way. They are convincing you so they can get personal information off your hard drive, DO not give them access to your computer.

   As a computer CompTIA A+ certified tech: word of advise to people downloading free software off the internet make sure you know what you are clicking when saying yes, yes, yes click ok.          Many tool bars and players are good but what they can bring in from some questionable sites is pure trouble.

   Take in to consideration these tips are happy surfing, a saying that someone shared with me makes sense. " You can not control the waves but you can learn how to ride them".

Just another form of trying to get personal information from unsuspecting people, the old scare tactic. When ever you see an email like this do not click on the link you are giving away your security.
